Characteristics of Learning Faculty of Agriculture

We will introduce the characteristics of learning in Faculty of Agriculture.

For humans and nature to coexist, our future begins with "agriculture"

Message from Dean

Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology Faculty of Agriculture is committed to cutting-edge agricultural research and practical education with the mission of fostering human resources who can contribute to the sustainability of the global environment and the resolution of social issues related to agriculture, food, the environment, and life.

Modern society faces many challenges, including climate change, food security, and biodiversity conservation. Agricultural science is an important academic field that provides scientific approaches to solving these problems and paves the way for the future. From basic research to applied research, our university is carrying out education and research activities that can contribute to the development of agriculture, food, the environment, and life sciences, while incorporating the latest AI and information and communication technologies. In addition, we aim to foster global talent who can play an active role on the world stage by collaborating with universities, research institutes, and industry both in Japan and overseas and providing practical learning opportunities such as experimental fields, veterinary hospitals, and experimental forests.

Faculty of Agriculture I hope that all of our students will acquire solid expertise in the field of agriculture, have a deep understanding of the relationship between society and nature, and continue to take on the challenge of creating a sustainable future based on innovative ideas. Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology Faculty of Agriculture aims to contribute to society through the pursuit of knowledge. We invite you to join us in learning and creating the future.

Purpose of learning/Characteristics of learning

Faculty of Agriculture aims to cultivate talented individuals with outstanding abilities by imparting broad knowledge, Professor specialized academic subjects, and developing intellectual, moral, and applied abilities in order to contribute to solving problems in the fields of agriculture, life science, environmental science, and veterinary medicine and to creating a sustainable society.

4-year learning flow (curriculum)

The curriculum places emphasis on specialized science and technology in a wide range of fields and is broadly divided into liberal arts courses and specialized courses. The liberal arts courses aim to cultivate a rich humanity while honing the foundations for future specialization.
The department's specialized subjects include lectures and experiments/practical courses that highlight the characteristics of each department, providing detailed and specialized education. The veterinary medicine department is a six-year program, while the other departments are four-year programs, and all students work on a graduation thesis in their final year. In addition, remedial education is provided for students who did not take physics, chemistry, or biology in high school.
